Large canvases of new work

Three large canvases of my new waterlilies lino-prints will be on display during Sherwood Art Week in Wetherspoons in Sherwood, Mansfield Road along with work by Lucy Hall.

Lino-Printing classes are held in Sherwood Studios on Wednesdays 10-12.30 and 6.30 - 9pm.

Cost £18 per session or 3 sessions for £50

Mosaics classes are held at the same venue on Thursdays, 10-12. Cost is £15.

Classes are small and friendly, maximum of 6 people per class. Suitable for beginners and those who have already learnt the basics.

Lino-printing 3-week taster courses

Tuesday mornings 10-12, (1 space left) and Tues eve 7-9pm (5 spaces left) , 3 sessions to learn the basics of lino-cutting and printing.

£50 for the course including materials and a cuppa and use of printing press.

Courses start on June 13th for 3 weeks at Sherwood Studios above the Crimson Tree Cafe in Mansfield Rd.

Follow on classes will run after the taster sessions to teach more techniques.

New courses in Sherwood, Nottingham, spring and summer 2023

New 3-week courses at the Sherwood Printmaking Studios above the Crimson Tree Cafe on Mansfield Road, Sherwood. NG5 2FX.

Lino-printing courses on Tuesday mornings, 10-12 for 3 weeks starting 18th April, 16th May and 13th June and Weds evenings (Times to be decided) starting on 19th April, 16th May and 14th June

Mosaic courses on Thursdays, 10-12, 2-4pm and 7-9pm for 3 weeks starting on 20th April, 18th May and 15th June.

£50 for 3 weeks including all materials and a cuppa.

Courses are suitable for beginners and will lead on to ongoing weekly classes where each person will be working on their individual project at their own pace and level.

Classes starting now

I'll be weekly running lino-printing classes at my studio in East Cowes on Monday afternoons, Wednesday mornings and Friday mornings. Morning sessions run between 10am and 1pm, afternoon sessions run from 1-4pm.

Class fees are £25 per session and include materials and refreshments.

I hold small groups because of space in the studio and so that I can give each person individual attention.

Exhibition of Artwork created from recycled materials

Quarr Abbey, 17-22 March, 2022

An exhibition by a group of artists from the West Wight showing a variety of artwork all created from reused, repurposed and recycled materials. Artists are Pauline Evans, Juliet Collins, Helen Goodman, Lucie and Penny Green and Marion Large. Artwork includes glass, ceramics, paintings, prints, mosaics, bottles and more.

Quarr Abbey is open to the public between 10am and 4pm daily and the exhibition will be open from 10.30.

The abbey is on the main Ryde road between Fishbourne and Binstead. Po33 4ES.

New art studio and work space

Water Tower Studio is my new art studio where I work on my mosaic and printmaking projects and am now running classes. (Please see my Facebook and Instagram pages for details)

I have a large room for workshops and space enough for all my art materials and printing equipment. In July, I'll be opening my doors for Open Studios from 16th - 26th (except 22nd) when you'll be welcome to come and look round and see me at work. If you're interested in coming to a mosaic or printmaking class, please contact me.

The studio is located within the grounds of the old Osborne Stables next to Osborne House at the top of East Cowes.

A chance to see this mosaic

This large mosaic of the popular cliffs at Burton Bradstock will be on show at the craft fair at Monkton Arts for one day only. Saturday, 12th December, opens at 10.30 until 4pm.

The craft opens on Tuesday 8th and I will be displaying my new giclee prints of the larger mosaics I've made over the past year and new cards and handprinted lino cuts as well as the old favourite mosaic kits, all for sale and I will be there on Saturday morning.

Christmas craft fair at Quay Arts

All Covid safe procedures in place to keep us all safe at Quay Arts this coming weekend for the craft fair. Come in the side entrance and upstairs to the Michael West Gallery and see the Christmas stalls with local arts and crafts. I'll be there with my new lino prints, fine art cards and the old faithful mosaic kits. Hope to see you all this weekend.

Lockdown learning

New Printing Press

During the lockdown in the spring, I was lucky enough to be given a grant by Arts Council England for a printing press. I spent most of the summer producing new hand-cut lino-prints which you can see in my gallery and online shop.

Learning a new technique

I have experimented with a printing technique called reduction printing and I now feel confident enough to share it with my students in the new year or as soon as things get back to normal.

No classes but mosaics carry on.

New drawing class in West Wight

During the summer, I have been running a drawing class in Freshwater. A small group of friends invited me to teach them basic drawing techniques and we have been meeting every week until the new lockdown and wintry weather forced us to put them on hold but I hope to be able to start these classes again as soon as it is safe. We’ve been meeting in some beautiful gardens which we’ve used as the theme of our sketches as well as trips to Fort Victoria, Newtown and Freshwater Bay to practise.

Still mosaic-making at home

Meanwhile, many students have been busy creating some beautiful mosaics during the lockdown and at the short course I ran during September and October. Here are some photos of their work.

I’m hoping to be at the Quay Arts Christmas Fair on December 5th and 6th. I’ll be selling my new collection of lino-prints, giclee prints, new greetings cards and mosaics as well as mosaic kits which are also available to buy online at www.totlandmosaics.co.uk.

Made during lockdown in April

Commission

I was asked to make this large mosaic of the cliffs at Burton Bradstock for a friend. I worked from the photograph above in shades of black, white and grey crockery, a real challenge to find enough examples of the tones I needed, especially during the lockdown.

Not seen by anyone but the customer

The mosaic has never been on show in a gallery and went straight to the customer but I hope to be able to borrow it next time I have a chance to exhibit my work to the public, which all being well, will be at Brading Roman Villa in 2021 and Quarr Abbey in 2022.
